But before you do, it’s important to understand one thing: you can’t just expect your new hires to gel with the rest. Instead, you’re going to need to consider the three crucial elements below to make sure you’re following the right process for everyone involved.
Go the Extra Mile to Integrate New Members into the Team
Releasing a new hire into the office and letting them get on with things can be a very bad idea. Training of some kind needs to occur, even if it’s nothing in depth. You’ve hired a person that you think is right for the job, but now it’s time to make sure they fit in well and have the chance to settle in without any friction.
Going the extra mile needn’t be difficult – just make sure the introductions have been made and that the new employee knows who they’re reporting to. From here you can then tell them what they should do if they have a complaint, remind them of workplace rules, and leave them at their desk ready to get on with work.

HR standards are important to follow at all times. The more compliant you are, the more fair your treatment of your employees will be. Everyone benefits from this, whether or not you’re currently expanding the business.
That being said, when you’re bringing new hires into the business, it’s the perfect time to review your HR compliance and see what you’re doing right and where you could be doing things better.

The final element involved in the hiring process is roping your team in to get their point of view. These are the people who are going to be working closely with the new member, so it’s best to get their opinion on who would work best within the team with them.
Of course, you have the final say here, but getting a bit of feedback from the people you already can reliably depend on should factor into your choice.
Expanding your business team isn’t a process to rush or cut corners in. It’s something to pace yourself at and ensure your team has a say in what happens and who comes onboard. And remember, never leave your new hire to their own devices on their first day!
