  • This Week’s Assignment: Submit Your Podcast to Apple and All Major Directories
    • Ideal situation is to have your first 3 episodes and a short trailer at launch. This is not necessary, but ideal for marketing and hooking listeners to your podcast. Even if all you have is one episode right now, now worries. Go ahead and start submitting what you currently have to the directories. Remember, Perfection is the enemy of progress! 😉
    • Trailer tips:
      • 60-120 seconds
      • Introduce yourself (name and who you are in a nutshell)
      • What the show is, and about
      • Why someone should listen
      • How & Where to find your podcast
      • When episodes release
    • Have your show description ready for the various directories, social media outlets, and 30-second elevator pitches you will make to listeners, guests, and sponsors.
    • Start thinking about your launch date. Exciting! 🤩
      • Typically within 2 weeks of when you submit your podcast to directories and not before Apple approves it
      • Launches are also best when you release your first episode on the same day of the week you plan to launch future episodes (i.e. Monday at 2am for a weekly show)
    • Submit your new podcast to as many directories as you can now.
      • Please note, while some directories accept your podcast overnight, some (like Apple) typically take 1-3 weeks for approval. Here are just some of the directories you should be submitting your new podcast to:
        • Apple
        • Google
        • Spotify
        • Stitcher
        • TuneIn
        • Podchaser
        • Overcast
        • and more!
  • Next Week’s Lesson: Going Live! The Importance of Consistency, Sponsors, and Good Communication
