When it comes to podcast hosting, there are a sea of options out there, and more coming along everyday. With that said, here are two of Dave’s favorite podcast hosting services:

1. Buzzsprout: Use this link for a free 90-day trial AND a $20 Amazon.com gift card when you sign-up for any paid plan (Who Dave uses 😉)
2. Libsyn: Use promo code “StartFree” when signing up for a free month of hosting

One of the main diffrence between these two great companies is while Buzzsprout uses an hour based billing model, Libsyn uses a size (mb) based billing model. And while there are other pros and cons to both services, this is probably the main consideration you’ll need to look at up front based on your podcasts model and needs.

In a nutshell, Buzzsprout keeps you focused on producing great episodes and the length each month, Libsyn gets a bit more technical and focuses in on the actual file size. Again, both are great services and solutions, but this is the main upfront difference most new podcasters need to consider.

Other considerations like IAB compliance, Automated Podcast Directory Listings, and podcasting reports & stats should also be considered in your decision based on your specific podcasts needs.

Leveraging A Website!

As discussed in previsous segments, having a website to compliment and promote your podcast is a great thing; not nessesary, but a very helpful tool. Here are just some of the ways the Remarkable People Podcast uses their website to help promote the brand, guests, and episodes.

The Power of YouTube!

Over 1-Billion people can’t be wrong… (Did you catch the sarcasm?😉) Regardless, with over a billion people using this monster search engine and traffic coming to your podcast with little effort, it would be unwise not to use this powerful tool to promote your podcast.

Even if you just post your traditional podcast episodes with cover images using software that makes YouTube think its a video, you’ll be in good shape. With over 47% of music being consumed in the world today this way (through YouTube played with a static cover image), podcasters are quickly catching on.

Here is a screenshot of our podcast where we tested a couple of episodes with no promotion on YouTube in less than 1-month. CRAZY RESULTS! Imagine if we tried! 🤪

Now if you have the ability and means to actually record, edit, and publish full YouTube episodes, do it; all the power to you! This class is focused on traditional podcasting, however, and YouTube and videocasts are not included. Check back later for additional tutorials and future classes though on this powerful platform.
