Should You Allow Your Employees to Meditate?
It doesn’t matter whether you are an employee or a CEO managing a team of them, you know that life at work is stressful. Being in an office or being remote, when the bulk of the day is taken up with work-related tasks, it’s not easy to manage and the mental and physical demands are tough. Over time, those complexities of a working day bloom and change, and they can leave your team feeling more stressed than usual. Should you Allow Your Employees to Meditate?
The overstuffed inboxes. The projects that never seem to have enough time before the deadlines. The difficult coworkers that make an existing tough day even tougher. All of these things can lead to burnout, stress and people simply walking off the job because it’s not what they want anymore. This is what you want to avoid! In your personal life, you know that great ways to blow off steam can include yoga, nature walks and trips to the local Buddhist meditation center to really center yourself. But, have you considered blending some of those personal activities into the workplace? You want your team feeling strong and happy, not worried and upset. You want people to come to work and feel happy in their role, relaxed in their tasks and smashing out their goals. Should you allow your staff to meditate in the workplace? Let’s explore that below:
- It’s great for making decisions. Sometimes, a tough decision needs some pondering. That means that you need to allow your team to take pause and think for a moment and meditation is perfect for this. Mental clarity is a must and when you have a space in your office for people to take a moment and center themselves in the same way you would after a long week, they can make clearer, better decisions.
- You can improve their emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence can often be harder to manage than actual intellect. You can bet that you will be the reason your team feels more in tune with their emotions as well as the emotions of their coworkers when you allow and enable meditation on working time. If you do this, you demonstrate empathy and allow them to develop the same skills. Emotional intelligence can really bring out the best in people, too.
- You’re responsible for people being more present. If you allow people to have some dedicated time to meditate, you allow them a sense of presence. Focusing on your team’s wellbeing and allowing them to feel more disciplined can help them to concentrate better and feel more focused. This will help your team to be more effective and you can maximize their efficiency easily!
- They’ll improve their memory. Carving out time for each team member to meditate and think will help them to improve their memory and this will work out better for your business in the long run. You will be the reason that they are better at their jobs and you will see the benefits almost right away.
