Console Vault 2020 Jeep Gladiator Install with David Pasqualone, host of the Remarkable People Podcast

David Pasqualone: Hey friends, I’m David Pasqualone with the Remarkable People Podcast, https://RemarkablePeoplePodcast.com, and I am so excited we’re installing a console vault. In our Jeep Gladiator 2020. So first thing we’re going to do is you’re going to clean out the console, right? Where the console vault goes. Once it’s cleaned out, this particular model actually is a single sided instead of six-sided device.

And there’s an insert with three sides that goes in just because of the design of the Jeep. Most console vaults are just held together one piece of steel with a lid that opens six sided. This one though is cut. Custom made for the Jeep Gladiator. You’re going to love it. So it comes with the hardware you need, practically nothing.

So it’s easy. 10-to-15-minute total time repair. You need two sockets, a half inch and a 7-16th inch. And then also, if you haven’t preset your lock [00:01:00] combination, do that first before you install it, just so you can test it. Because if you lock it in, bigger issues. No problems though without it. So I’m going to pause this video and start the install.

David Pasqualone: All right, so this is step one of the actual install of the console vault in the Jeep Gladiator. You’re going to take the insert piece that has the notch and put the notch towards the front of the vehicle. It’s easy. Put it in diagonally, turn it so it lays flat. Next, you’re going to take the actual console vault unit with the locking mechanism and you’re going to put it in diagonal, so it’s facing kind of the steering wheel from the passenger side.

And then when it goes in, you’re going to turn it slightly. And then once it’s in, you can lift it up. And the goal is to not hit or damage the light and to get it above the USB port. That way you can do an easy install. And now for step two.

David Pasqualone: For [00:02:00] the next step of the install, you’re going to put the console vault in, as we discussed, and you’re going to lift it up, and then there’s the swing arms of the first piece we put in. They’re going to line up, the holes on the swing arm, it’s going to line up on the screws on the console vault, okay? So both sides, you should have the screws through the holes, and then what we’re going to do is we’re going to take the hardware and hand tighten the nuts onto the screws.

in those four spots. Don’t tighten it with a ratchet yet, just start off by hand tightening it. That’s it.

David Pasqualone: All right, ladies and gentlemen, to help you, if you want to make your life a little easier when you are putting the four nuts on the bolts, take your ratchet, put the nut inside of it, and then I’m using a little cheat.

Three inch arm. That way I can reach in and turn it easily. That’s just a little hack, [00:03:00] if it helps you. So, while I’m installing it, you can install yours. See you in the next segment.

David Pasqualone: All right, to finish step two, that extension arm is probably the best thing you can do, because if you’re like me, your hands are not conducive to small spaces, so it’s hard to actually reach. This is the most difficult part and the most time consuming part of installing your console vault, and it’s still quick and easy, but that is the most frustrating thing.

Big hands, little hole, we get through it though. Now we’re ready for step three.

David Pasqualone: so for the last step of the console vault install, it’s easy. You’re going to take the self threading screw that’s included and your 7 16 ratchet head and you’re going to use these tools to finish the install. The first thing you’re going to do is you’re going to by hand, you see that hole in there?

That’s already pre threaded. [00:04:00] That’s obviously where this screw goes. So by hand, you’re going to screw it in and get it started until it’s snug. Then you’re going to use your wrench, your ratchet, and put it in. Do not kill it. Don’t crank it down super hard. Go till it’s snug. Give it like a half turn and you’re done.
