When sourcing your new business location, there are a few things you need to bear in mind, but business curb appeal is at the top of the list. Not every location is suitable for every business, and while a busy main street might be ideal for a retail outlet or food and beverage store, it likely won’t fit the bill for office spaces or medical practices that need to eliminate hustle and bustle or for those accepting large volumes of deliveries each day.
But when you find your ideal location, what next? It’s not just as simple as setting up shop and getting the internal aspect of your business on point; you need to make sure the exterior stands up to scrutiny too, especially for new companies. This post is going to look at how you can do just that: have amazing business curb appeal.
Have An Eye Catching Sign
Your business has 7 seconds to make a good impression and to catch people’s attention; you need to ensure that your new premises have an eye-catching sign. You need to be easy to find and leave no question that people have seen the right location for you. Ensure that you get your company name or logo on a sign and book an Electrical Sign Installation so people know exactly who you are and where you are and make the most of those 7 seconds.
Keep It Clean
The last thing people want is to wade through piles of rubbish or walk on dirty pathways to get to you. If the outdoor area around your business looks messy and unkempt, then people will hold this standard as how you operate your business or keep house indoors. Make it a priority to get outside, tidy up, remove trash from sidewalks, parking lots, or entrances, have your windows cleaned, regularly empty trash cans, and keep the building and area clean and tidy as part of your general cleaning or maintenance schedule.
Use Greenery
Nature has been proven to boost mental health, so utilizing greenery in the front of your building or inside your reception can serve you well. Include grass, hedges, or flower beds outside if you have the space, use indoor plants inside window areas, and add greenery to your entryway and around your premises to boost mental health and make your business more appealing.
Improve Accessibility
Curb appeal isn’t just how good a building looks; it’s about how easy it is to gain access to. It can be using automatic doors so people don’t need to physically open or close the doors themselves, installing ramps, and removing steps or obstacles where possible to allow for easier access to the building.
While ensuring those with physical limitations or disabilities can access your business location and aren’t restricted is an excellent way to improve curb appeal as too is making sure that all visitors to your location can easily find you. Avoid trying to blend into the background and being ambiguous as to where you are; this will leave a poor taste in people’s mouths. They want their experience with you to be fuss-free and easy. This is where signage, as detailed above, comes in handy. Use posters in your window and, if you are using a shared building, have your business details clearly accessible so people know they’re in the right place to find you; for example, using the building name in your address and information and then being clear about how to find you and where exactly you are located to avoid confusion with other businesses in the same building.
