The One Thing That Will Determine Your Success: Expectations

Have you ever noticed how your level of success often corresponds to your expectations? If you expect to fail, you probably will. On the other hand, if you expect to succeed, you’re more likely to achieve your goals. The reason for this is that our expectations have a powerful influence on our subconscious mind. Our subconscious mind is responsible for shaping our reality. In order to change our reality, we need to change our expectations. But how do we do that? Read on to find out how the art of expectation can help you succeed in life, no matter what your goals may be.

The expectations you place for yourself can either hold you back or propel you forward in the pursuit of success. If your expectations are low, you are less likely to push yourself. Why strive for something if you don’t believe in its attainability? And, if you don’t believe in the attainability of a goal, it is likely that you won’t put in the effort necessary to make it a reality.

Art Costello shares, “It makes sense to me that the mind is a powerful tool and what we think matters in many ways.”

On the other hand, if you set expectations for yourself that are realistic and attainable, you are more likely to stay motivated and consistent in putting in the work necessary to achieve your goals. Come up with a plan, stick to it, and adjust when needed. Be sure to remind yourself to be mindful of your own standards, assumptions, and goals. It is so easy to get caught up in comparisons to those around us and pursue the same goals.
