As a business, one of your main jobs is to optimize your online sales funnels. If you can get these right, you can massively increase the number of conversions and scale your revenue this year. It doesn’t matter what type of service you’re selling online, whether you have an e-commerce store, some sort of SaaS solution, or you’re selling accounting services, this guide is here to help you.
Map your funnel stages
The first thing I want to do is map out your funnel stages. Usually, sales funnels run from:
- Awareness
- Interest
- Consideration
- Intent
- Purchase
- Retention
If you can break up your sales funnel into these specific stages, it makes it easier to use things like Google Analytics and heat maps to determine where conversions are weak. Just addressing two or three of these stages can massively increase the amount of revenue that your business receives. For example, if you get better at awareness, then even if your later sales funnel stages are low quality, you can still win more customers. If you’re in two or three of these stages, the effects amplify each other, and you can find yourself becoming extremely lucrative.
Sort out your audience segmentation
The next step is to properly understand how your audience segments into different groups. You can do this by breaking them up into various buyer personas based on things like their demographics, past purchases, and behavior. The more you can include personalization at every stage, the better. Audiences want to feel like you are speaking to them specifically, and not just providing them with generic marketing materials.
Resolve any lingering website issues
Sometimes poor conversion rates in sales funnels can be a result of lingering website issues. If your site isn’t optimized for mobile or it’s slow to load, then that in itself can prevent people from wanting to buy from you even if your products and services are great.
Getting consultants on board and experts like WPB WebDesigns is helpful in situations like these. Professionals can often drill down and get to the root of the issues that you are facing very quickly, without you having to spend hours trying to do it in-house.
Optimize your landing pages
If you’re going to be working with experts, then another thing you should do is optimize your landing pages. Getting these arranged in the right way can improve the likelihood of conversions. For example, you want mobile optimization and fast loading designs as mentioned before. However, you also want social proof on your landing page. Including reviews and testimonials and a headline that focuses on the benefits that users will receive if they buy your services.
Implement CTAs
Finally, you’ll want to implement strong calls to action across all of your sales channels, telling customers and prospective customers what to do next. It’s critical to get them to take action and make the decisions that you want them to make. Try experimenting with different types of calls to action, like:
- “Get your free trial”
- “Get instant access right now” instead of basic instructions like “Submit”.
