As a business owner, stress becomes a constant companion as you try and navigate the world of self-employment. The hours are long and it can be lonely, except for the stress that is always there. If you feel like you and stress are becoming a little bit too serious about each other, it might be time to break up with it before it breaks you.



Sometimes all we need is a break from the stress in order to help us manage it a bit better. But leaving the work pile alone isn’t enough for some people. If you need something else to take your mind off your to-do list, exercise might be a great way to get your head back in the game. When you exercise, your body is flooded with endorphins. This then helps by taking your mind off the problems and the stress, so when you return to work, your head is clear and you can tackle the problems with ease.


Go to sleep

One of the biggest contributors to stress is lack of sleep. When you are working a lot, your body and mind get tired. Unfortunately, it can be hard to switch off. So, it isn’t enough to go to bed, you need to establish a routine to help you wind down. This could be anything from having a bath and some meditation, to sitting down for half an hour to watch an episode of The Simpsons. Find out what works for you and put it into action.


Medication maybe?

The medical world is a marvellous one, and if stress is getting to be too much, there is a medication route that you can take. For this option, you might need to speak to a doctor to see if they can prescribe something that comes in pill form. However, if you live in an area where weed is legal, you could look into it. If you do decide that smoking is the way for you, you can carry your smokes in a doob tube to keep them safe.


Speak to someone

If you find the stress is getting too much, talk to someone. If you have a friend that you can bounce things off, great. However, if you think it is too much for your friend to handle, then you can talk to a specialist. There are many different helplines and online chat rooms that you can join, many of them are free and confidential. There are also mental health phone lines that can help talk you through your feelings and help you to get back on track.

For instance, managed IT services deal with computing and network issues. Marketing agencies eliminate the need to hire a marketing department. And personal virtual assistants can organize all your meetings, flights and other activities.


Outsource difficult tasks

Many entrepreneurs go into work, believing that they must carry the weight of the world on their shoulders. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. In today’s economy, you can outsource pretty much anything, getting rid of all the ball ache and leaving you feeling happier about your day. 


Being a business owner is tough but it doesn’t have to be so tough that you can’t focus on anything else but your problems. If you try out these methods and discover that the stress levels are still too much, it might be time to ask yourself if the business is worth it. No business is worth your health but it is up to you to make that call.
